Work Crews
Participants are divided into to work teams and go out into the community to make necessary repairs substandard homes. They work Monday through Friday repairing roofs, replacing rotted siding, painting homes, and building wheelchair ramps, among several other projects. Our worksites are often referrals from Gadsden County agencies and social workers. All work is done free of cost to the homeowners as a gift of love and compassion in the name of Christ. In addition to the work done on the home, work teams minister to the homeowners and residents of the neighborhood. We also provide vacation bible school supplies for the children in the neighborhood to learn about Jesus. Poverty is not just a problem in third-world countries, people are suffering only miles from where we live.
Centenary Camp
Participants are housed at Centenary Camp, which is run by the Tallahassee District of the United Methodist Church. The camp has two dorms that each sleep 44 people, a main dining hall/worship area, a recreational field, basketball and volleyball courts, and swimming pool. Each morning participants pray, eat breakfast, have quiet time, then pack up and head to the worksites. After returning to the camp in mid afternoon they will have a chance to swim in the pool, participate in competitive games, and enjoy Christian fellowship through free time. After dinner the campers break up into their individual work groups and talk about their experience on the worksite, the devotionals, and what the speaker discussed the previous night. After these small group meetings all return into the dining hall where they worship the Lord with our worship band, and learn more about Christ’s plan for their lives.
